Leiden
Set in the heart of Randstad, Leiden is a picturesque university town that is in many ways the cultural and academic epicenter of the region.
Located between The Hague and Amsterdam, Leiden is home to the oldest university in The Netherlands and the birthplace of Rembrandt. For the cultural lover there are more than 12 museums among them one of the city’s smallest which consists of artifacts taken by the Pilgrims when they left Leiden for the New World.
It is a pretty, historic town of canals and historic buildings, abundant shopping interspersed with beautiful canals. For accommodation, the geared for student housing tends to be small but in the neighbouring suburbs of Leiderdorp, Voorschoten and Oegstgeest there are plenty of roomier alternatives.
