International education

The Netherlands is known for its pursuit of internationalisation in every field. Not the least of these is the field of education and an emphasis on languages. The Netherlands is home to many excellent, high standard educational facilities, including several international schools. At both the primary and secondary levels there are many schools to choose from, from international schools to Dutch schools with an international stream.

In WestHolland alone there are more than 600 Dutch primary schools and over 100 Secondary Schools. Next to the local schools WestHolland boast the largest concentration of international schools in the Netherlands, offering their curriculum in English, French and German etc.

Well known institutes such as The British School in the Netherlands, The American School of The Hague, The International School of The Hague and the Lycée Francais Vincent van Gogh are just some of the many international schools located in WestHolland providing international educational facilities at primary, secondary and college level. Add to these institutes in Amsterdam and Rotterdam which are in close proximity to the region and one can see that the options for international education is widely available. "Leiden not only boasts excellent facilities but also “a multi-lingual talent pool in the surrounding universities, labs and businesses that makes for a heady mix,” says Glenn. “And, although the business environment is not vastly different to other parts of Europe, government support in the form of subsidies, grants and network facilitation is a big help for SMEs."
