Immigration & permits

All foreign nationals intending to come to the Netherlands to work or live need to apply for a temporary residence permit, an MVV (Authorization for Temporary Stay). This document serves as your entry visa. Exceptions to this requirement are for nationals from the following countries: EU member states, Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland and the United States of America.

Applicants should apply for the MVV at the Netherlands Embassy or Consulate in their country of origin or actual residence. The application procedure generally takes up to three months time.

For a fact finding visit to WestHolland, your company may require an invitation to come to the Netherlands. The WestHolland Foreign Investment Agency works closely with the Dutch authorities and we would be pleased to issue such an invitation to ensure that your visa procedures run smoothly.
