WFIA at CeBIT 2016: a recap

On March 15, the WFIA visited CeBIT, one of Europe’s largest IT event in Hannover. This 5-day program covered more than 25 conference halls with the latest Tech innovation, IT services & cloud solutions and more. Leading Tech companies like T-Mobile, Amazon, Huawei, Salesforce, ZTE & Microsoft as well as tech driven countries and innovative regions were well presented with impressive booths. This years´ event boasted the latest developments in virtual reality, internet of things and healthy ageing.

Although usually promoted as being ‘one of the largest IT events in Europe’, the amount of cross-overs between IT, healthcare and even education really shows that the borders between these traditional sectors are fading quickly. It is great to see how software development is at the very heart of tangible solutions, varying from integrated whiteboard systems for educational purposes to software for wearables in order to track your health status“, says Daisy Tjin A Lien, Business Advisor Asia at the WFIA.

It is great to see what is going on in the innovative world of tech, smart connectivity and cloud solutions and to be able to experience it hands-on. Apart from learning about the latest developments, CeBIT is also a great place for meeting companies that are thinking about a potential expansion to our region. Given the large presence of international IT & Telecom companies in the region, WestHolland is really a place to consider. It is great to be able to meet international companies and and to be able to really help some of them. Even though we planned our coverage strategically, the extent of the CeBIT conference really forces you to walk 10k+ a day anyway. ” says Peter Scheffers, International Business Advisor for Russia and Eastern Europe at the WFIA. “CeBIT has brought us some valuable contacts. We’re definitely going to visit CeBIT again in 2017!”.
