Company of the Month March | APM Terminals
The Hague, Netherlands- The new global headquarters of APM Terminals and Damco was officially opened on march 5 in The Hague at the noted “De Kroon” building in the heart of The Hague city center, with Deputy Mayor Henk Kool, A.P. Moller-Maersk Group CEO Nils S. Andersen, APM Terminals CEO Kim Fejfer, and Damco CEO Rolf Habben- Jansen, along with 350 employees and guests participating in the program commemorating the move.
Kim Fejfer, CEO APM Terminals: “We chose The Netherlands as our home base for its central location and its people. The country has many talented people who are welleducated, and willing to travel and live abroad. They’re international in mindset and excellent in language skills. These qualities are important to us and our growth ambitions. Amsterdam airport also supports our pace of business and international reach very well. We find The Hague to be a very efficient and enjoyable place to live and work which is also within easy access to our operations in Rotterdam.” The move of these companies downtown adds to the international climate of The Hague; with the presence of international organizations, embassies and multinational companies.
Henk Kool, Deputy Mayor of The Hague: “The city council has adopted an Economic Development Strategy which focuses on creating a good investment climate for organizations and their employees: quality of life, accessibility, housing, (international) schools, culture and services for highly skilled migrants. Because these international companies and people are also of great economic worth for our city, one job at an international company results in a spin-off of three jobs in the local economy, we are constantly working on creating opportunities to make the city even more attractive and versatile than it already is. We are very proud that APM Terminals and Damco have chosen The Hague as their home base.”
